What is Juvéderm? 

Juvéderm is a brand of injectable dermal filler used to combat common signs of aging for a more youthful and healthy appearance. Juvéderm fillers are formulated with hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally occurring substance that helps to retain moisture and maintain elasticity, essential for skin hydration.  

The Juvéderm collection of dermal fillers consists of different formulations specifically tailored to different treatment areas.  

Juvéderm Ultra 

Juvéderm Ultra XC injectable gel is a versatile hyaluronic acid filler designed to add subtle volume and smooth moderate facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds. It is also commonly used for lip augmentation, enhancing fullness and definition. With its soft and flexible formula, Juvéderm Ultra provides natural-looking results that last up to one year. 

Juvéderm Ultra Plus 

Juvéderm Ultra Plus is a thicker and more robust version of Juvéderm Ultra, making it ideal for treating deeper wrinkles and folds, such as pronounced nasolabial folds and marionette lines. It provides greater volume and longer-lasting results compared to Juvéderm Ultra, typically lasting up to one year or more. 

Juvéderm Voluma 

Juvéderm Voluma is specifically designed to restore lost volume in the cheeks and midface. Its unique VYCROSS® technology creates a firmer gel that provides lift and contour to sagging skin while maintaining a smooth appearance. Voluma is known for its long-lasting results, usually up to two years. 

Juvéderm Vollure 

Juvéderm Vollure is formulated to soften moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds while maintaining natural facial expressions. It is ideal for areas like nasolabial folds and marionette lines. With its advanced VYCROSS® technology, Vollure provides a balance between flexibility and durability, lasting up to 18 months. 

Juvéderm Volbella 

Juvéderm Volbella is a soft, lightweight filler designed for delicate areas such as the lips and fine lines around the mouth (perioral lines or smoker’s lines). It provides subtle volume enhancement and smooths fine wrinkles while maintaining a natural feel. Volbella results can last up to 12 months. 

Juvéderm Volux 

Juvéderm Volux is the firmest and most structured filler in the Juvéderm family, designed for jawline definition and chin augmentation. It helps create sharper contours and a more sculpted appearance, making it an excellent choice for those looking to enhance jawline structure. Results can last up to two years. 

Skinvive by Juvéderm 

Skinvive is a unique skin booster rather than a traditional dermal filler. It is designed to improve skin hydration, skin smoothness, and overall radiance by delivering hyaluronic acid directly into the skin. Unlike volumizing fillers, Skinvive enhances skin texture and glow while providing subtle hydration. Results typically last up to six months. 

Who is a Candidate for Juvéderm? 

Healthy individuals 21 years of age and older who wish to combat facial lines and wrinkles, restore lost volume or plump the lips, or achieve improved mid-face smoothness and glow may benefit from Juvéderm dermal filler injections. Ideal candidates will be in overall good health and have realistic expectations of what dermal fillers can achieve. However, Juvéderm may not be suitable for patients who are pregnant or breastfeeding, have severe allergic reactions, have a history of previous allergic reactions to dermal fillers, or have active skin infections, skin injury, or inflammation in the treatment area. The Juvéderm Treatment 

Similar to other skin injection procedures, Juvéderm injections are fairly straightforward. Your injector will cleanse the treatment area, and a topical numbing cream will be applied to ensure your comfort. Next, the Juvéderm filler of choice will be skillfully injected into the skin using a fine syringe. Depending on the size of the treatment area and the number of injections, this process can take anywhere from 15-60 minutes.  

Juvéderm Recovery and Results 

There is no downtime required following Juvéderm injections. However, patients should avoid applying makeup for 12 hours following treatment, as well as avoid strenuous exercise, exposure to intense heat or sun, and the consumption of alcoholic beverages within the first 24 hours of treatment.  

Side effects most commonly associated with Juvéderm injectables include redness, swelling, tenderness, firmness, lumps and bumps, bruising, itching, pain, and discoloration. However, these effects should fade with time.
