What is Restylane?

Restylane is a brand of injectable dermal fillers designed to restore volume, smooth lines and wrinkles, and enhance facial features. It is created with hyaluronic acid (HA), a substance naturally found in the skin that helps retain moisture and provides volume. Restylane can be used in various areas of the face, such as the cheeks, under the eyes, lips, and around the mouth, to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles or to add volume for a fuller look and achieve a more youthful appearance.

The Restylane family of fillers consists of several products, each designed for specific areas of the face and different cosmetic needs. At Balance Medical, we offer the following Restylane fillers:

Restylane Lyft

Restylane Lyft is designed for deeper facial wrinkles and volume loss, particularly in the cheeks and mid-face. It’s also FDA-approved for hand rejuvenation, adding volume to the back of the hands to reduce the appearance of veins and tendons.

Restylane Refyne

Restylane Refyne is a more flexible filler designed for treating moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds and marionette lines. Its unique cross-linking technology allows for natural movement and expression.

Restylane Defyne

Like Refyne, Defyne is formulated to treat deeper lines and folds but is specifically designed for more pronounced expression lines, allowing for smoother facial expressions while reducing wrinkles around the mouth and nose.

Restylane Contour

Restylane Contour is a hyaluronic acid-based dermal filler specifically designed for cheek augmentation and midface contouring. It helps restore lost volume in the cheeks while maintaining a natural look and feel, thanks to XpresHAn Technology™, which allows for flexible, dynamic movement with facial expressions.

Restylane Kysse

Restylane Kysse is a hyaluronic acid-based dermal filler specifically designed for lip augmentation and enhancing lip texture, color, and shape. It provides natural-looking volume while maintaining soft, flexible movement, thanks to XpresHAn Technology™.

Who is a Candidate for Restylane?

Healthy individuals who wish to reduce the appearance of wrinkles or restore lost volume to the face may be good candidates for Restylane fillers. However, as with any injectable treatment, this option may not be suitable for all. You should not receive Restylane treatments if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have certain medical conditions, or have an active skin infection in the targeted areas. To learn more regarding candidacy, please contact our practice today to schedule a consultation.

The Restylane Treatment

To begin your Restylane filler treatment, the skin will be cleansed, and a topical anesthetic will be applied to minimize discomfort. Your injector will skillfully place the chosen Restylane filler into the intended areas using a fine needle. Treatment is typically quick, not taking more than 30 minutes.

Restylane Recovery and Results

Following Restylane injections, patients may experience mild swelling, redness, or bruising near the injection site, which should resolve within a few days. It is advised to avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol, and excessive sun exposure for at least 24-48 hours to reduce swelling and bruising.

Immediate improvement will be visible following treatment, though full results typically develop over the next 1-2 weeks. Restylane filler results may last anywhere from 6-18 months, depending on the filler used and treatment area.

Are all Restylane fillers hyaluronic acid fillers?

Yes, all Restylane fillers are hyaluronic acid (HA)-based. They use a biodegradable, non-animal-derived form of hyaluronic acid, which is a naturally occurring substance in the skin that helps retain moisture and volume.

How much does Restylane cost?

The cost of Restylane may vary depending on the filler chosen and the area being treated. For more specific information regarding cost, please contact Balance Medical today.

What happens when you stop using Restylane?

If you stop using Restylane fillers, your skin and facial features will gradually return to their natural state as the hyaluronic acid is naturally broken down and absorbed by the body.
